As chairman, lecturer and instructor on the master watchmaker programme at the Hessische Uhrmacherschule, I receive many enquiries from people outside the profession who are serious about learning watchmaking, whether specific aspects or the craft as a whole. For many, the available training options do not fit their personal circumstances.

In cooperation with the Hessische Uhrmacherschule, we are therefore exploring the feasibility of an e-Masterclass covering all aspects of watchmaking through courses that can fit around everyday life.

We believe that, with good mentoring and a willingness to learn, excellent training is now also possible online. Self-taught watchmakers such as George Daniels, Konstantin Chaykin and John Harrison demonstrate the level that can be achieved through interest, talent and personal initiative.

In addition to receiving a certificate for each course, participants would have the option of taking in-person examinations to obtain a graduation certificate from the Hessische Uhrmacherschule (NOT a state-recognised watchmaking qualification or a master craftsman title!).
